History & Background

Here's Where We Came From

In  2010, Rich Brown, with his degree in Christian Education, came to Indianapolis as an assistant house manager for a men's addiction recovery house. When the sponsoring church pulled out, he worked with the property owner to create a Christian-based recovery program, Celebrate Freedom. Mr. Brown worked his way up to Program Director. In 2021, because there were not enough beds for the applications they were receiving, the Program Director expanded the reach by opening the Indy Sober Living house.

Indy Sober Living has always been the name of the online presence, but the house with that name has been operating since October 2021.

Indy Sober partners with Freedom 2 Overcome. This is a 12 Step recovery group hosted at The Caring Place church at 2901 N. Post Road. This is a partnership that began way back in the summer of 2011.

Indy Sober continues to help both the offender who comes from the justice system as well as the total volunteer seeking recovery. However, they made a conscious decision in November 2023 that the Indy Sober facility will focus heavily on reaching the offenders who either have a court case pending or who are on probation, parole or home detention.
